Ceramics was where my work began. I’m drawn to the quiet presence of clay and to the way a form can change through making, glazing, firing and painting.
Cracks, marks and variations become part of each piece, giving it a character of its own. |
My paintings explore colour, shape, texture and movement. Some begin with a loose idea, while others develop as the paint is layered, scraped, poured and worked across the surface.
I enjoy the point where a painting starts to take its own direction. |
