Rusted Metal

I work with steel as both a surface and a material in its own right, allowing rust, paint and chemical processes to change it.
Some of the marks are deliberately made, while others develop through oxidation and the passing of time. I enjoy the contrast between the strength of the metal and the delicate, unpredictable surfaces that emerge.
What begins as a hard industrial material can become surprisingly subtle — layered with colour, texture and traces of its own transformation.
